Hi all, looking to renew loads of brake stuff on my disco2 td5( discs pads hose etc) and while i'm all drained out i thought i would replace the rijid pipes running down from the rear to the front. Does anyone know of i can get aftermarket brake pipes are these main dealer only??? Cheers Mark

If ye mean the rigid pipes... make them yersel' or get somebody with the kit do thum fur ye.

The green coated stuff is steel and has an annoying habit of rusting through.
Mine is a 01 TD5 and found that both of the rigid rear pipes were shot and needed replacing :-( They had rusted through just above the front two mini-flexi hoses in the nearside front wheel arch.

Dave mine are just starting to go in the same area. I would like to make a complete set up out of copper but where do you start in terms of Knowing what nut sizes etc Unf/ metric?? Dont wont to start this job without being able to finish on same day as car is in daily use (work)

I have a huge pot of the correct size fittings for them - they are the same ones all the way through.
It's a useful opportunity to replace the flexi hoses at the same time - I redid everything in copper from the ABS modulator down to the front flexi hoses, then the run from the flexi hoses to the rear flexi hoses. As long as you take your time and route them the way the old pipes were it isn't too bad. I messed up and have one of the pipes going over a electrical conduit, but hey.
If you want 12 of these fittings ( a few spares too!) let me know and I'll post them to you free - I could use some good karme ;-)
Oh and get yourself a good flaring tool - worth the extra cost. I have the Sykes Pickavant Flaremaster 2 and it worked very well. You might be able to use a cheaper one but I couldnt get one that did good reliable flares!

I replaced all the brake pipes on my Rangie a couple of years ago. I bought a kit frim Rimmers I think. It had all the correct lengths of pie and all the necessary unions. All I had to do was uncoil each pipe, bend to shape (using the original corroded ones as a template) then put on unions, flare pipes and fit.
The kit was just over a £100.00 or so - you could buy pipe and unions separately for less money. That's what I would do now but it might be worth checking out.
Note the kit does not include the flexi pipes but I would agree Goodridge are the way to go, shop around for price. You can be fairly sure the existing flexi hoses will be corroded in place and when you try to undo the unions you will end up cutting them off.
