I did a tonne of research on the internet before starting this, and it seemed to me that getting the new chassis stamped probably saved some hassle in the long run. It may not be 100% to the letter of the dvla rules, but their implementation is not 100% either.I understood the chassis number had symbols in as well and reproducing it was of no legal benefit.
The most important thing is to keep the purchase receipt witrh the vehicle documents.

Well, perhaps that proves the case then. I'm sure I've done no harm getting it stamped on then...On 2cvs, galvo chassis swaps are really common - even more so than Landies. NOBODY has the chassis number stamped into the chassis (some of which are now on their second or third car), and Citroen didn't bother on the originals, either. <shrug>
