Do you have a picture or diagram of where to find the xyz switch and i remember the seller saying that the linkage for it got slightly bent would that be my problem?
Yes. In P does the transmission actually lock?
Difficult to see how the linkage would get bent accidentaly, it's well out of the way and there should be protective panels under there. Sounds like a bodger has been at work. Looks like you have bought a heap of ****e.

Waiting for feedback?
Yes a little over is nothing to worry about
Its impossible to over fill plug type but dipstick easily done
Hence my question he could off unplugged the plug type with engine off and thought it was overfilled .
As for cable slack that would be identified via the dash as it would not say is was in r for reverse . A large over fill could be bad tho

Large overfill will blow the seals out. P reg will be a dipstick.

Front prop uj seized so it snapped uj and he tied it up using some elastic band off a head torch and when he drove it back on to the drive forgetting the uj would still spin slightly bent linkage. I paid less than 1k for it so even if i can't fix i will break it for spares

Fail wrong link

There are three clutches involved with reverse. Two of them are used for other gears. If all the forward gears work it is pretty obvious which clutch has failed. Clutch 8 in RAVE diagram.

theres a few decent spanner monkeys round near him so fingers crossed he should get sorted if he gives me a shout i will put him onto a few

hi yeah i might need a hand not sure, i have a mate who works at s & m motors in murton which is also frrelander spares, hes been pretty good working on cars with me.

I have garsy coming over to take a look at it next week but when i looked at the oil on dipstick it didn't look black. what does TQ stand for?

I have just downloaded the rave manual so i will have a look and see what it looks like but i am thinking of just sticking another box in as i need it on the road quickly
