Hi Guys.
I need to get a reverse camera installed in our recently purchased RRS 2007 model to help my wife see to hitch the horse trailer.
Our system has an integrated digital tv player and aux in system, the connectors for which are behind the fridge in center console (screens in headrests) all factory fitted rather than aftermarket by the looks. Control modules and headphone sockets in door card tops by window.
I'm wondering where the control module would be located for all of this and if it might have the connection socket for a reverse camera already integrated, and if not what would be the best way to achieve a reverse camera to add to main display!!
Can anyone give any pointers or advice to help.
Thanks in advance.

having done quite a bit of digging online.. it seems that the gvif interface is the way to go.. but, my main query is that this is done to also enable tv and dvd etc through my existing system... but i already have all of this so i'm needing to know if the factory set up already has a plug and play facility for a reverse camera built in.. and where would it have been located in car. The sat nav unit under the passenger seat has all rear connectors in use and nothing fitted along side it. Wires go down under carpet.. so where would the digital tv module and auxiliary connectors i have fitted behind center consoles module be located??
Has anyone had experience with same set up and getting a reverse camera integrated as such??

sounds like ur half way there , looks as though the rear view camera plugs into the gvif unit

if u look through ur screen is there a reversing camera menu there already

will do some digging as well for u , to see what i come up with

seeing we both have the same running gear etc , lol

this is what i’ve found so far , know it says D3 so got to find out how it compares to ur rrs

also read the ccf files need to be updated to tell the computer u have a camera fitted

http://media.disco3.co.uk/gallery/a...iscovery_III_Multimedia_Installation_v1_2.pdf

https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/easi...t-165117.html?highlight=gvif+reversing+camera

also found this, know you’ve already got the gvif u it, it’s the bit further down ref about plugging the reversing camera in

https://www.hids4u.co.uk/Land-Rover...TV-or-Reversing-Camera-on-Sat-Nav-Screen.html

here’s what it says ref the reversing camera

https://www.hids4u.co.uk/reversing-...scovery-4-range-rover-sport-freelander-2.html

ref , Please note: This is a camera only, you will need a wireless screen for display or if you have a factory Sat Nav you can get the reversing camera image to display on your Sat Nav screen. We sell a variety of monitors available here.

so i would assume u plug it in then update ur ccf computer files , maybe give them a ring to see if this unit works and what is involved

Thanks again. I will have a read through all of this also.
If i need to speak with you direct.. do i just ask for stuart.. or can you perhaps pm me a direct contact number. Would be good to speak with you to clarify on a few things maybe.

sorry mate... just realised that the numbers above arn't for you.
The more i'm reading through that how too.. the more i'm seeing things that resemble what i have. I'm just goint to whip out and take some pics to load up for you to see.

There you go. Seems i have all but the reverse camera that i could get by fitting the GFIV box... but looks like all factory fit or extremely good aftermarket !!
What do you guys recon?

think that box under the seat is for ur satnav and video screens , but can’t see the gvif box , unless it’s fitted elsewhere

would be a shame buying one and then later find out you’ve got one,

i have got another few places to look and will put up the links when i find them

That one under seat is the sat nav. The cd / dvd player is mounted in the boot. I'm goint to do some dismantling tomorrow as havn't fount the digital tv part yet and thats probably off the GVIF if not a stand alone.
Looking at all the info.. the GVIF runs through the sat nav module as an aftermarket.. but can't find anything relating to factory install locations.

LIke you say.. no point in buying the GVIF if its already hidden in there somewhere.

hi

just been reading through this site

http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/index.php

if u register there’s many threads ref how to install a reversing camera , did try and post the links but seems u have to register

at least then u will get a 100% answer as it looks like u need a gvif unit, the camera and then activating the camera in the ccf files

sorry can’t be more help

plse let us know how u get on

Thanks mate. I've just registered up and will have a dig through over next few days. Seems a customer of mine is a manager at local landrover center so am going to see if hes happy to give me some insight tomorrow also.
Much appreciated.
