ah yer see, what it is the recomended oil will "wash " out yer engine too, sooooo, as it washes all the sludge out that keeps it quiet , it will start to rattle, some times its more hasstle than good,
so is that a no to changing the oil and yes to a new filter.
sorry if i was reading it wrong, my retarded side comes out close to midnight :S
yes change the oil , and filter but put somethin in that dont have those whats yer call it detergents and stuff in , it makes them rattle a touch

personally i don't think that looks too bad. looks better than mine!! get some black hammerite on it which will stop it getting worse and will make mot man happeir. thats what i would do. you will forever be chasing rust otherwise.
it's falling apart at the seams, literally !
that's past saving - painting it will just hide the fact that it's past saving
so deffo needs replacing then haha gunna have to find me a welder.
what about the link thats the cheapest i found the crossmember. anybody ells have any good sites with good prices?
kinda hoping to have it on the road at the end of the moth. got someone coming to check the electrics soon too, only a few things seem to be working and i replaced all the fuses.
how big of a job is replacing the crossmember and should i just get the crossmember or would you advise the extended one?
it's a long days work, but it's just spanners (or in your case a grinder) and measuring - as long as your not a complete mechanical numpty you should be able to DIY - there's plenty of guides on the net, many with step by step pictures showing how to do it - let me know if you can't find them - the extended x members allow some degree of fiddling once you've chopped the old one off to enable it to line up as they slide over the rails
maybe practice your welding by patching up the old one until the weather improves ? (unless you have a heated garage)
:confused2: How can one side of the cross member look solid and the other side look like that. Never seen that before.
i wish i could just chop that end of the crossmember of and weld a better one on from a scrap yard hahaha

if you can find one that's another option - maybe plate over the join for added strength
oh it was parked under a tree :S when i gto it home it was actualy green till i jetwashed it. then its true color come outif you look at the other pictures of the landy it looks like it's been parked half under a waterfall - which might help explain the odd way only half of it has gone
