one of the buttons looks like it has previously replaced then has dropped off so it doesnt have an unlock button the lock one seems to work but no light shows up and the battery has being tested across a multimeter

also the indicators and the fuel door has stoped working i dont know whether that is joint to this or is a totally different problem

I can do D2 switch replacement.

£10 PM me this includeds recorded delivery back to you within UK. Switches are slightly better spec than original.

Done a few, including mine.

Hi people's, hope i'm on the right thread here, It's an intermittent fault I seem to have. Sometimes the fob works the doors and the key starts the car then over times it doesn't. New battery in fob but still the same problem, I plugged Hawkeye in, but truth is I'm no good with it. Checked the security signal which was flashing between low and high strength. Don't know if I was on the right path checking that. Just wondering if its the fob or receiver or something else, cant understand why sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

After reading lots of threads about various alarm/immobiliser issues i have a recommendation ... when ever and no matter for what reason you plug in a tester, beside the main reason for what u've got there, enter in the BCU menu too and set the alarm on "always disarm with key" mode. This setting will help you to unlock and remobilise the car in case of fob/receiver failure... the fobs used to fail to unlock/disarm the alarm quite often from various reasons and if it's not set this way there is the risk to stay near an immobilised car or be recovered for serious money untill the problem will be fixed(unless u know the stored EKA). IMO it's not a matter of reducing the security of the car cos the passive immobilisation is still on untill the original key is inserted in the ignition...this setting just allows you to unlock and disarm the alarm with the key.... it's a matter of choice though ;)
Good advice! Just need to find someone with a nanocom in Orkney

thanks for the advise. asked a local land rover specialist to set it up that way but instead he completely switched off the alarm and immobiliser. Obviously this is something he never did... how can i 'direct' him into doing it the proper way... ie alarm and immobilizer stays on, but can be deactivated from the key?

What kind of ''specialist" is that then?

the "Always disarm with key..." option is under the "Alarm disarm" settings... if he switched off the alarm/immobiliser it means he went into "Alarm" settings and disabed it with option "not fitted"

On nanocom the "always disarm with key" option is simply "Always" near the "Alarm disarm" line and the others on that page should be Alarm - Fitted, Alarm option - Enabled (not like in the image)

Hallo Sierrafery, what’s the condition because the plip fail? I’ve this condition mainwhile on my disco. Thanks for your reply, best regards, Claudio from Italy

Hello,
I know this is an old topic, but hoping someone can help.
Normal problems of fobs working intermittently, and now not at all. I have bought a new remote receiver. However the one in my 99 D2 is a valeo unit with no earth on. Will the regular one work?
Also I have set the passive arm to disabled but I still have to enter the EKA code? Is there another setting I have missed?

Thanks Drew (fed up waiting in car parks)

Thank you sierrafery. I had disabled passive immobiliser and alarm disarm to always, but it was still active? I have set alarm to not fitted, I can now start it without having to input the Eka everytime. That will at least let me use it until I source the correct reciever.
Thanks again Drew

Hey guys. Please be gentle, I recently acquired a disco 2 and it recently started giving electrical faults and dash warning lights. Took it a supposed landy specialist in south devon and he screwed up more than he fixed. Its a 1999 disco 2, what is the best diagnostic tool to use with it and how easy is it to trace and repair faults?

Hi All

Sorry to resurrect a thread.
So I have a second Fob which came with my vehicle (2001 D2 V8).

Main Fob works fine, spare fob had uncut blade so popped to lock smith sho kindly cut the blade for me. Key unlocks and locks the doors. Doesnt start the vehicle though.
In Nanocom under Key programming, I have entered the Fobs 6 digit code into Key 2. Thats now saved. The next screen Key Detect, the fob is not detected - Nanocom can see the key on RF test but key does not get detected when I go to Sync under Key 2 or Key Detect after pressing a Button.
Key also doesnt start the car.

I am not too fussed about the Keyfob buttons (though would be ncie) but I would like it to start the car.

What are the options I need to have enabled/disabled in Nanocom to enable the key to start the car?

PS: I dont have the EKA code if that is an issue at this point.

Thanks.

Hi ,

Plus Black box also have a you tube video showiing exactly how to code a new key , have you seen that?

Have a read of this, hopefuly it will help. in the future. PLus you can get your EKA code using a nanocom.
https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/handy-buying-alarm-info.311291/

If the key is programmed corretly then it should start the car, especially as the first one works correctly.
Did you delete the original number that was in the code enter box first?

Cheers

Hi

Thanks
Yes have watched the video have deleted all in Key 2 box and entered the code inside the keyfob.
Original key works yes, Spot on.
I will see if I can find the EKA code in Nanocom - Thanks for that!

Where abouts in Nanocom am I looking for EKA code?
Thanks

Not sure where else to go now though.
