Just a word of caution about that style, they don't look very deep so they don't look as if they would offset the backend far enough to prevent any damage to say the door or lights if you nudged up against a wall for example.

Mine are the solid rectangular military type. They are quite deep and stick out far enough to protect the backend. I have been known to use them as mechanical parking sensors from time to time :) They also protect the chassis and rear from jackknifing trailers when you mess up a reverse - I know this from experience :)

Been using these on my 90 for 14-years now, excellent pieces of kit and really well made. Had them galvanised a couple of years ago (the original powder-coating was flaking off) but other than that, no issues. I think that when I measured the steel I found it was 6mm.
They fit with the swing-away carrier & NAS lights as well, many don't.

I've had the ones linked by the op fitted a previous lr, they was ok and seemed pretty solid.
But they was fitted when I bought it, I'm a tight twunt and wouldn't pay for them myself

I was thinking of getting some of these for the 90:
Defender / Series Rear Bumperettes Black Pair DA2071 Island 4x4 - Specialists in Land Rover and Range Rover Parts and accessories for all models. UK and worldwide mail order.

Has anyone got these and what are your thoughts? It was either these or the rear corner 'steps' but I just preffered the look of the twin tubes.
Think they're same ones that were fitted to my 90 (only pic I could find)..

..if so they're only strong in one direction so good enough to protect your lights but if you stand on them they bend ;)

I wonder how these HD bumperettes perfom in a slow impact, ( reversing into a wall ,oops) I prefer the idea of having bumperettes / steps , that will give on a slow impact, rather than transfer the impact and damage to the X member.

I took one of the old two step towbar attachment steps, cut it n half and fitted each half to where the bumperettes go. perfect for my intentions.

Cheers

The standard military ones have saved my bacon a few times now. I've reversed into a wall and a lamp post on different occasions (less than 5mph). I would certainly recommend them.

They do make good parking sensors :)
