F**k me, what a clean engine, do you actualy use it?
Forgive my ignorance, but what is the reason in removing a viscuss fan that works perfectly and replacing it with an electric one?

Of course I use it!:D
In actual fact the engine has never been cleaned since it was brand new, I wash around the engine-bay when I clean the vehicle but it has NEVER been de-greased or jet-washed.

Why did I fit it?
Very good question as the cooling / heating worked perfectly but it was just one of those things that I thought 'why not?'. All I can say is that since fitting the electric fan the warm-up time is no quicker and the heater isn't any hotter (both of these were fine beforehand) so in hindsite there probably wasn't any reason and even if there was a difference in fuel economy (it might be SLIGHTLY better than with the viscous fan fitted) it will never make up for the purchase cost of a Pacet fan, X-Eng thermoswitch etc.
It does give you more room at the front of the engine I suppose. The shroud & viscous-fan were dead easy to remove if access was required but now they are not in the way it is even better but having said that, how often do you need access anyway?

Is it a good idea to fit an electric fan if going wading in my landy? I thought the viscous fan might possibly try and slow the engine down if its in water? I havent done any wading yet so i dont know...

You put the leccy fan on a switch so you can turn it off when you go wading.
