ok, interesting response. not really helped though, thanks for those of you in support :) hopefully I can guess the flow rate starting off low and avoiding pinking noises from the engine ( to much gas) and for those of you who are not supportive keep an eye on the news and if I get it wrong im sure you will see me (or whats left of me)

To be fair, not wanting you to live a very exciting, all be it brief, life as a fireball is quite supportive. :)

I am going to make it myself, simple idea is just a switch to turn gas on at a certain point either full throttle to give extra power or I will try and make it vary depending on boost pressure so it gives better fuel economy

You need to control PSI and CFM of the propane. Do you have any figures as to how much to put into the motor?

they make kits so propane goes on demand from idle to top rpm range. You been watching fast and furious

no that's what im asking, I think probly only 1 or 2 cfm at fullboost, I think it will be easiest to do a two stage switch where it releases 1 cfm at say 10psi boost and 2cfm when I hit 21psi of boost

Sounds like a plan.

Did you ever watch madmax 2? Humungus just has a bottle of nitrous?? and when he needs power turns the cylinder on at the valve. Simples :) No eletronics required :)

fucin ell..

no one gonna help then???

bunch of people who know nought telling the man what to do!..shame..have any of you done this??(expecting a torrent of hate now!!)

right then..

you will need a basic lpg kit of parts same as single point injection..ie tank.pipes,vaporiser..filler etc

vaporiser can be small..but must be capable of injecting gas at boost..m84 is good.
you will also need injection nozzle..one of..install it into piping post turbo..nozzle available from tinley tech..tell them what its for.

you will also need micro switch and clutch switch..
also two lpg gas electric valves (triggered by above)
also 2 "power valves"
plumb up lpg system same as single point..but instead of mixer plate inject gas via nozzle..

the micro switch is to be positioned on injector pump so as to be on when OFF idle..this micro switch powrs up gas valve 1.gas valve one goes to power valve one and to nozzle..so once off idle gas injected..

clutch switch goes to gas valve 2.gas valve 2 goes to power valve 2 and tees into gas line to nozzle...BOTH are feed via vaporiser..WHEN clutch depressed cuts off gas valve 2

why??one needs to inject a really small amount of gas at idle..if you dont its too "jerky" and tends be too horrible when gas applied, ie not smooth..once off idle one needs more gas, this is where gas valve 1 comes in (via micro switch)

the clutch switch cuts the gas totally..this is needed as otherwise engine will predetonate ie on gearchanges etc..

re amount of gas,,feck all..30 litres lasted me 400 miles on a 3.3 6 potter at 2 bar boost..
you set it up with the power valves so as it DOES not predetonate..you WILL know when it does!!unmistakable..

i used to get 40mpg at 65 in a rrc with gas on..and was quicker than a 3.9...

re fitting one self..if you can fit a gas cooker safly or boiler then this is easy..

dont forget your soapy water in an old hand spray bottle..

ecu for this are available now..

thankyou very much!! the kits I have seen inject the gas pre turbo, is this worse or better?

worse..would you want propane running though your red hot turbo??

i fink i will stick to good old doozle. certainly made an interesting read.
particularly the post about insurance:eek::eek::eek: could be scarey. but would love to see when finished. so good luck with it and please keep us updated.

ron.:bounce::bounce:

Reading over zen's post you'll have another problem to overcome, there's no injector pump on the D2. The injection is all controlled via the ECU, so you need another means of determining when on idle.

I know nowt about gas injection, just know a bit about D2 TD5.

could easy be done from throttle pot..have the micro switch on pedal..COME ON think people!

re insurance ..sod all..its cost no more to lpg a v8..ONCE done one can get it certed ..thats not a problem, i took mine to tinley, come home with nice cert ..insurance sorted.., cost me no more on mine (diesel with lpg) as is an economy/emmisions upgrade.

you lot are really boring..good job you wernt around in times of need!!we would all be speaking german!!

YOU all remove egr..turn up your pumps on 200 tdi..etc..what would your insurance say about that???different springs??etc..

so stop wineing..you aint doing it ..the poster is..offer constructive help pls..

....its alright i dont requent this sub section too often...(waiting for thank feck for that abuse..lol)

SERIOUS NOTE...td5 owners wont experience full advantage of propane unless mapped, bigger i/c etc. as they are quite effient , unlike the mechanical 200 tdi etc..

Wasn't saying it couldn't be done, just pointing out a different approach would be needed. Not a naysayer at all I'm finding this thread quite interesting. Thought my comment was constructive tbh.
