well the big bore shocks are a bit of a revalation, supple but more surefooted is the feeling i am getting from the back now. I havent done the front yet. Will do that shortly.

Definetely a worthwhile investment though, and being as thick as an arm.. much better looking too boot!

also managed to wire up the front hid spotlights, install an electric fan onto the rad, smart car seats are in, rear roof is now foamed into position.... (expanding foam worked a treat on all the creaks and rattles!!!) coolant changed (from neat H20 to 50% glycol)

This week, need to install the replacement windscreen washer bottle, cut a capping piece for the wheelarch, install the new reverse light switch and bolt in the cubby box, adjust the doors to pull the tighter onto the door seals, and thatll do!

picking up a heated windscreen for it on weds, and some more smart car seats for the rear seats, and a double cardon propshaft.

only terrafirmas big bore expeditions, but a massive improvement on the fooked uns that were on it... obviously ;)

Well last night i did some more work on wombie, my headlights have been playing silly buggers so ive been forced to drive everywhere on high beams as the dipped kept cutting out.

Removed the fuse panel and presto chango... the headlights work perfik! WTF! i suspect one of the screws retaining the panel is touching something they shouldnt...

anyway i changed the headlight switch as i had bought a new one (as i had suspected it was that!) as it was worn and looked a bit ****...

also adjusted the door catchs so they pull tighter on the seals - less draughty now!

Also found that the oil leak i have i think is coming out of the gearbox open hole ... whatever its called! i suspect crank oil seal failure? had to top up the engine oil as its lost about a litre.

Also checked on the diff oils as i hadnt since i had bought the vehicle...

rear one topped up to then find aload of creamy **** coming out... so thats a drain out and replacement required (but i didnt have enough oil so i left it in till the weekend)

and checked the front to find...eerr.. NONE! ... doesnt half run smoother with oil in the diff!!!!

Mud console is installed now too... now to install the 7" satnav/stereo screen thingy me wotsit..

Well i havent cured it with the mod mentioned, it was flicking on and off like billy o on the way back last night. Not fun!!!!

Oohhh ball cocks, the electrics are playing up... from what i can tell its the fusebox - lots of corrosion as if you wiggle fuses and wires on it, various bits start to work.... I think it needs completely replacing.

I am going to replace it with a standard blade fuse holder as glass fuses are something i just dont like.

then again electrics are something i dont like....

:( i chuffin hate the magic lectrics when the smoke comes out :(

We have been looking at producing an adaptive loom for the defender to allow accesories to be easily added. Her father is an ex aircraft wiring technician person so was up for producing them. We were thinking of using pukka waterproof block connectors so you can strip the loom out and change bits easily in the future... it hadnt been my intention to be doing the layouts from my vehicle...

cock...

Well wombies body is getting undressed this weekend. I have a new tub, sides, back and roof to go on her! All getting sprayed this weekend too.

any tips on removing the old tub? I havent even looked at how to do it yet.

Whilst im under there, its getting an additional fuel tank - extra 60 ltrs and ive managed to get some 2" lift springs and big bore expedition shocks for the front to match the rears.

also got a new windscreen as there is a big chip on the existing one.

I installed a heated fuel filter last weekend to improve its running on WVO. Hoping to install some other parts ive acquired over the past few months on this weekend too :-

New engine mounts
a washer bottle
park position switch
new reverse switch
indicator stalk (the bracket on the existing one is snapped and allows the stalk to move around the column)

hoping to get it up and sorted soon. Got to get it ready as a wedding car for the mrs!

over here ( Ireland) the country is full of enemployed builders scaffolding !
It makes avery handy outdoor workshop and galley
