Whats the best way to find a leak in the fuel line?
Thanks.
You're not going to smell diesel unless it's escaping somewhere, and from what you've said it sounds like air is getting into the system somewhere.
You must have missed something.
I'd pop round an have a look if you were closer............
Scratch that. I'd pop round an have a look if you'd pay the air fare and put us up for a week
Spent an hour under Pumkin last night with a flashlight.
I could find nothing.
But I figure if it took almost 3 weeks to leak enough to cause her to starve for fuel it must be a really really slow leak.
So, mu plan now is to order a complete set of fuel lines, from tank>fuel lift pump>fuel filter>injection pump and back to the tank and replace them all.
I will also drain and clean the tank this weekend.
Surely this should do it.
Thats probably because your looking in the wrong place.
leaky leak off pipe. it may not leak a lot of diesel out but may draw plenty of air in to cause the problems your having
Agreed.
I will be changing all my fuel lines.
whats the oil level like, its been known for lift pumps to fail and spill oil into the sump, you'd smell it but not see it there.
Bleed he fuel system to make sure? Did you disturb. Pipe when you undid everything?
Sounds like a potential air leak
