wish I could get an account with Britpart , did try once but they said I would have to spend 500 quid a week

Made a start on the axles today, complete strip down and rebuild with all new parts.
Hate this job especially cleaning all the bits full of old oil and grease. Is there a better / quicker way to do this apart from a posh parts washer which I aint got or cant afford then standing for hours cleaning out with rags ect,

Hard to get to to the knooks and crannies , to be fair the red paint job is not to bad , just wondering if I clean and paint over the top of it that my black paint will stick . Will be using this in pic, used it for my 110 and it's excellent stuff.

I’ll be tackling my rear axle in next 2 month and successfully derusted front using electrolysis , just need a big tank some washing soda and a. 12v supply 24 hours and then needs a wash and light wire brush
For smaller parts I’m using brick acid from builders merchants about 2 hours and all rust gone

The brick acid sounds good, someone said soak them in vinegar or even coca cola. gThey could do with been soaked in something to remove the rust before priming then painting.

Yeah I tried the vinegar and did remove rust but took a week or more, Did the front calipers in brick acid off on me golf last week came up,a treat

I’ve heard the corrolless is the dogs bollocks so I would do the job proper, when I did my front I use a metal prep rust converter before the anti rust primer and top coat still nice a and shiny after 3 year (por15 system)
