Got my other chassis up today, very solid , just maybe needs a rear crossmember. I can have the doors, wings, bonnet and running gear off this one too. will use the body and cab off the green one.
Still thinking about which engine though,

If I decide to go with the 300Tdi, will it mate up to Origional gearbox on the green one ?.
The one with red chassis has a 6 cylinder petrol in it but my mate needs that foranother vehicle.

Finally made a start, took both bodys off, Green chassis is totally fu!!!ed, red one is very good, someone has already done some work on it. gonna clean it up and paint it Black. might put a better rear crossmember on it.
Need to sort which bits I am putting back on then start rebuilding axles ect. and decide on what engine to change mounts.

Thanks, might not have to ask so many questions this time.
Think he needs the 6 pot for another series, so Im thinking of my Disco 300tdi ,

OK Ben thinking about choice of engines, after googling all 3 still not sure, only one we know that is good is the 300tdi, not sure if the Perkins will even start, dont think I will get the 6 pot but after reading up on them not sure if I would want it anyway sounds like they are really heavy on fuel, or have I read that wrong.
Anyway also put off the 300 as it seems there is a lot of stuff to cut and alter to get it in, even some people using it without the Turbo if that is possible.
So my next question is what would the original engine and box have been in a 1970 Series ? so if I get the chance to find one it will drop straight in without any faffing about or having to change engine mounts ect. Im not bothered about speed just as long as it runs well.

I thought the 300tdi went into a LWB series ok as turbo in different position to 200tdi.
Engine mount on oil filter side was a problem but this bracket sorted that I believe.

TBH, I admire your enthusiasm. When I see things like that I want to tip them into the nearest crusher to spare them any more pain.
It is certainly not a project for the faint-hearted. Good Luck! :)

Neither was my first one, but I got there in the end.

When you look at the drum with wheel off should be 1 or 3 countersunk screws around the centre area of hub flange and a threaded empty hole take the three screws out and screw one into the threaded hole . Replacement drums only have 1 screw originals 3 screws.

Got my first problem, wont be the first.
Bloody screws that hold the drums on, the rears came out fine, got 2 of this front ones out but think Ive well and truly knackered this one.
Any Ideas of how to get it out ?
