Thank you very much to all you who have so far signed and to any more that do.

I decided to post in this section because it clearly says "General Land Rover Chat Doesn't fit in anywhere else? Not sure where to post? Stick it in here and someone will move it if needed! :)"

so apologies to the rest of you who have obviously got very upset about me posting this here. My advise would be if you don't agree, then just ignore it. You have a right to your opinions however and I have a right to mine.

This site is open to all and free of charge so I posted this message in the hope that some would agree with me and spend a minute clicking on the link. And they have. Thanks to you again.
Once the petition has finished however, I will not bother you all any more with my "flawless arguments" and personal opinions.
Thankyou

Thanks slob for your opinions which you have a right to but this is my opinion and if you don't want to sign my petition then just don't go mad about it, however I wanted to make a point that the government last year I believe put 4x4 car tax up to around 300 quid and this year its going up again but my landrover only has a relatively small size engine and the fact that its 4x4 is irrelevant to the amount of emmissions. The government seem to think that by having a 4x4 transmission makes it dangerous to the environment which is pathetic so I set up the petition to put my point across. You obviously don't agree its worth it but if everyone thought like that all the time then nothing would get done about anything, would it. Enough said.

and you think by having yer little pertition something will get done? get real! they won't take the least bit of notice of it and any one with even the IQ of DK17 would see that. how many of these pertitions do yer think the gov has acted on? over 1000? between 100 & 1000?, less than 100? or none. if you chose the last answer you'd right any other answer and yer fooling yer self.
heres a couple of questions fer yer..

are you still paying VAT on yer monthly goods?

how many pertitions have there been to have it removed?

and yer answers are

course yer fookin are...they may have dropped it to 5% but only after decades of pertitions and other attempts.

too many to count... but its more than all yer fingers and toes put together

As a member of this forum you are entitled to say whatever you want within the limits of the rules of the forum.

I don't think you upset anybody, the reaction you got is generally par for the course, especially with a newbie, as far as I could see you gave as good as you got which is a good start.

Please do not let this put you off contributing to other areas of the forum, all opinions are welcomed, I'm sure you'll find it an informative, sociable and hilarious place to be at times.

give it some time, others will sign i'm sure, but stay a bit longer at least it's always interesting listening to the woes of the freelander owners.

Yet again you don't seem to have taken the important facts on board. NOWHERE in the current taxation system for RFL, flawed or otherwise, is the drive system refered to. The levels are based soley on emmissions not whether the vehicle is 4X4 or not. By creating such a petition only goes to prove you don't have the ability to read and understand the system in place but jump on the biased headline grabbing rubbish printed in the popular press.

There is NO such thing as 4X4 tax!!!!!!!

Bloody Hell, everybodys gone into a RAGE!!!!!! :) :) :) :)

Its not a question of getting into a rage.

People come on here requesting help with something which is

A) pointless

B) Factually inaccurate

C) Don't like the answer when the above are pointed out.

If you must waste your time with the PM Petition website, then at least make sure what your are petitioning for is accurate and not based on popular press hype.

Before it finishes convince me with your flawless Arguements that the government intends to introduce a road tax system on which the cost of a road fund licence is based on the drive system and/or body type of the vehicle been taxed. As opposed to the level of emmissions created by the vehicle. (Oh and I understand that the Mini Cooper One will fall into this new higher tax bracket. Hardly a 4x4 is it)

.........but my landrover only has a relatively small size engine .....

Maybe this statement expalins everything, shes got a .............................................................................................

1.8 HIPPO.

Anyone daft enough to buy one of them, is never going to be smart enough to work out the current road tax system!!!!:D :D :D :D

Those dirty lying bastids in the dvla have removed all the information on the 4x4 tax from the list of RFL charges. The cost of vehicle tax for cars, motorcycles, light goods vehicles and trade licences : Directgov - Motoring That Or the petition has actually worked. I did consider the theory that maybe there never was a specific 4x4 tax. But that was too preposterous, I mean there's a petition calling for it to be scrapped and it said in the Sun that they were introducing it. So it must be true.

Real problem is too much consumption of everything, with too much waste in the consumption process, with the majority of the population constantly buying the newest of everything and discarding older but perfectly good items.

Insane amounts of packaging on everything, with everything in the packaging having traveled round the globe three times as its cheaper than making the whatever locally.

Too many people with too little time to be arsed to do anything about it as long as their particular little world isn't being affected.

As for future power generation - if less power was used there would be less need and less power could be used easily with the higher efficiences of small local generation facilities. The baseline power systems could be hydro and sub surface tidal systems - both of these being fairly constant despite weather conditions, with other large scale generation systems being from the wind - offshore and landbased.

Saying that none of this is likely to happen.
