Me again, since I got my 2010 TDV8 Vogue facelift version, the parking brake light has been illuminated. The parking brake doesn't work. the seller told me the parking brake module is missing. The only reference I can see to the parking brake module is a complete unit that has cables going to each of the rear heels and it needs half the car to be removed to get to it. Personally I can't see that someone would remove it completely the replace all the bist without fitting another module. Is there another ECU somewhere that controls this, and if there is, is it connected to the MOST fibre circuit? If so that may explain why the info system and radio won't work

It might have been removed to try and fix it (the motor with the cables) it all comes out in one piece, if i recall

Lots of bent MOT's in the UK. A mate of mine with a car repair shop used to get MOT's for cars he had in without them ever going near a test station.

Currently going through the hell of fitting a new one of these to a 2010 RR Sport and I can confirm that when it's removed or disconnected, the parking brake light is amber and flashes red when in fault.
There's no way that car passed an MOT with the light on as the parking brake wouldn't have worked. When they should have tested parking brake efficiency it would have failed. Many testers won't put them on the rollers of course as they are full time 4WD, even if it scraped through with the amber light it should be recorded on the MOT history. You bought this from a dealer didn't you?
Yes, a dealer. Having looked back through the moT history it shows an advisory on 2 occasions for worn suspension link ball joint, it's still clonking around, an oil leak that may still be there and a blocked washer jet. Methinks a complaint to DVSA about the MoT station..

If you have the 11 digit number from the V5, then you can check what MOT station did it.
Try getting the dealer to sort the issues before going to DVSA. They might not have got the MOT's, but still have to sort it under warranty (assuming you only just bought it).
The dealer made me aware there was a fault with the parking brake module; what I wonder is whether the module is missing completely or just a bad connection? I was also aware of the radio missing, dealer said he would get it working before I took the car but didn't, then said he'd order one and it was coming from Poland, it hasn't arrived yet. I got one form ebay and fitted it, that doesn't work (see separate thread). but how it got through a test with 4 faults is annoying. I'll talk to the dealer later in the week once I've got a report from my indy garage in Bexhill. If the brake is minor wiring issue I can understand that, if it's the module missing, that' a different mater. I've not had a lot of luck with Range Rovers this year!

If you bought from a dealer I would advise against doing anything to it, just take it back. Engine and drive-train is guaranteed for 6 months by law.
The MoT situation is more serious but give them a chance to put it right ... Then report to DVLA.
Thanks for the advice. I'm taking the car to my local indy garage tomorrow to discover what bit of the handbrake module is missing or disconnected. The dealer is on the old A40 at Studley Green, opposite the transport cafe. It's about 100 miles form where I live so I don't want to be chasing there every couple of days.
