Hi Guys,

First thread here but desperate for some help. The short version, my farther in law passed away at the end of last year, leaving his p38 outside his house. Since then I’ve been going over to start it and warm it up a couple of times a week until his wife decided what she wanted to do with it.

One day recently went to start it and the battery was dead, charged it up, went to start and the alarm went off and got engine immobilised on dash. The key remote no longer operates to unlock the doors. As such I tried the EKA process to gain access again. But no success.

Current checks done:
-Door microswitches checked as working (multimeter on socket)

-Hazard light flashes on dash when performing key turns

-other doors appear to be superlocked

-after two left turns (of the four initial ones) I get a double beep

-also get a double beep when I open the drivers door

Video of attempt here:

Looks for advice/help and next things to try. Desperate to get it going now as were looking to sell it.

Thanks in advance

Put in what year it is and have a look at the tec section at top of the page some years sync the keys when in the ignition make sure you follow the eka to the letter

Sorry, model year is 2000. It’s an LPG conversion, and I believe it’s had a new engine at some point.

My father in law had to do this once before I believe, he had a battery go dead that was replaced. He also was a retired mechanic who kept very detailed notes, so I’m happy the EKA code hasn’t been changed as there’s no record of it.

Lock the car with key, return to upright then four to left. Back to upright then EKA code. Then final turn to right should unlock car.

Hi,

Yeah I’ve tried that, left turn does lock it. I normally start with it locked as I leave it locked once I’ve tried 3 times and it kicks me out.

The bit I’m not certain about is why it double beeps after the 3rd left turn at the start of the process? This must be a confirmation of something or have some logic?

Cheers

Twice to locked within 2 seconds invokes superlocking.
Do it slowly and steadily!

Wow! Thank you, I’ve been trying this all week, every combination I could think of.

Just tried it, very very slowly, nothing happened. So I got in and put the key in the ignition just in case it did anything as it hadn’t unlocked the other doors.

Everything unlocked! Key synced, engine started! Thanks for your help! (Goodness knows I’ve tried everything else listed in the internet!)
