P38 clock illumination

Real easy, You just need to pop the clock out from behind the dash i think! little bit tricky pulling off the some of the panels just be patient

funny from the first day of ownership my clock never lit up for 2 years, i thought that maybe it shouldn't until i needed to remove my heater display and saw that it was just a small light bulb which had blown

Mine's gone too, but saving stripping dash cause I've got a couple of other jobs to do while it's apart, like connect reversing camera to DVD player and hook up foglamp switch. I'm also going to see if I can get CB into dash too.

Ohh so its supposed to illuminate then !:doh:
iv had mine six months and never even thought about it
 
My wife just gives the dash a thump and mine comes on, everything else goes out but at least we know how long for
 
Mine have some bulbs blown on the AC controls (hevac is it?) but I think those are more complicated to replace, right?
 
If you have dextrous fingers you can take the radio out and reach up. The bulb holder just pulls out and is directly behind the 2 and 3 (if it had numbers). There are two wires attached to it which you may want to disconnect first. Remember which way round they go otherwise time may travel backwards when you refit them.

This works ! i did it a couple of weeks ago easy job !:cool:
 
I used an "Arrow" from a kids Bow & arrow kit .. yer know them things with a red sucker on t'end ... Stick it on the clock face & Pull gently it'll move forward just enough to get a thin knife into the gap & lever down the spring clips

Come to think of it I use them damn "Arrows" to do all sorts of things ..like retrevin dropped screws from down the dash ( with a lump of Blue tac squiged onto the end ect !!!)

It probably won't last doing that, mine didn't. When I took all the plastics off to clean them up I found the terminals were loose, I forget if it was on the bulb itself or the bulb holder but I do remember just touching the bulb and it would flicker on/off.
 
Just take the centre dash panel out & sort it properly. Takes about 10mins to get side panels off, lower panel under steering wheel, & release the 4 screws for HEVAC panel, plus slide the radio out. Then you can unscrew the centre dash & sort the clock bulb.

While it's out clean the aspirator fan & fix any HEVAC bulbs & switch illumination.

Failing that fix a torch in a strategic place to shine on the clock at night !!

I didn't need to go that far, just popped the cubby above the head unit, allowing me access to the rear of the clock.

That sounds too easy to be true. How do you “pop” it? Take the small panel (front lower edge of cubby) off first? Then where are the cubby catches that hold it in place? Thanks…
