Oh look, another problem with the P38 - it’s fine, this is all doing wonders for my mental health.

I’ve got a somewhat permanent SRS light on the dash now, accompanied by AIRBAG FAULT on the LCD display. Wiggling the yellow cable under the drivers seat doesn’t fix and with Nanocom I can clear the fault, and it’ll reappear then if I clear it again it stays off until next start up. Below is an image of the fault displayed - before I jump on eBay and start buying bits, it’s this likely to be the clock spring assembly or the actual air bag itself? Also is there a way to test continuity on certain pins?

Rather than wriggling the connector, check the contacts. Could also be the airbag open circuit. You could wire in a suitable resistor instead ?

Clean connectors with electrical cleaner with before coupling back together. When I had it it was the connector behind panel below steering wheel . 4 screws to remove panel, yellow wires are SRS, pull connector apart spray refit

Right so quick update - drove back from a cycle to the unit to dump the bike etc and had a quick nose under the seat to check which connector. Moved it slightly and now the SRS light is gone with no message either - so thankfully not the clock spring, which means Nanocom is reading correctly- I’ll give it a liberal blast of contact cleaner and fingers crossed.

Thanks for all the replies so far.

Had same on my P38 SRS light kept coming on because of the connection so in the end I cut it out and soldered the wires together, end of problem.

Might grab some trusty Wagos out of the van then make a better fixing. Don’t trust myself not to set the car aflame with a soldering iron.

Now fair enough you might set the car on fire with a plumber torch soldering tiny wires but you can get electric soldering irons now which would be a little safer or even small gas powered ones lol.
