P38 Ball joints replacements

Ok, sorry you're right, I didn’t explain properly in the first place, apologies!
I thought I had started the thread based on what the problem was rather than the ball joint replacement time, was consumed by the thought at the time!

Understanding what you say wammers and further understanding that the result of the spacers could have caused excessive load to certain parts over the last two years (problem may be caused by a multitude of parts) and given the replacements made- what else do you think it could be i.e. what next to drop a load of cash into?!?! I won’t let her go as I love her too much!!

Ok but you should have said about the spacers straight away. If you only ask half a question you only get half an answer. As many details as possible help enormously. Remove the spacers and see if it improves. ;);)

To further elaborate on the problem;


The shake or otherwise accurately described as a "death wobble" is very violent and seems to be induced by either pot holes and drains or lateral load (high speed cornering) This will continue or get worse unless I come of the peddle and drive through it (breaking, excessive steering or further acceleration feels like it will induce instant death!) The shake reduces and the car comes back into balance.

you will need to systematically go through all the bushes, poly sometimes have a short life ,tracking steering joints play in steering,steering box centered,shockers, worth checking vcu too

Check everything for security and play as previously advised. Steering link column to box, Adjust any play out of box. Check drag link for play. Check function of steering damper. Check track rod for play. Radius arm bushes. Panhard rod bushes. But i think you said you have changed some of those. I do not like poly bushes but that's just me. They are not as good as rubber ones in my opinion. Can't see the ones in the anti roll bar making much difference though.
 
Hey guys,

Damper installed, track rods inspected and drag links replaced. The problem is reduced but certainly not cured;

The car no longer goes into a fit when in the conditions previously mentioned. I do still however feel a rubbery feel through the steering wheel like I did before but with it no longer leading to the cassis shake I had before. I'm guessing I should move to the steering box to check for slack?

Did you remove the wheel spacers?

Not at all, i know what wheel spacers should be used for, obviously a lot of people don't. They think they are looking cool accessory like a go faster stripe down the bonnet. When that is not their true purpose at all. Then complain about odd steering problems and wonder why they are happening. A bit like putting a battery boost charger clamp on your dick and wondering why it hurts. But not having the bloody sense to remove it. :D:D:D
