As usual, my P38 A/C condenser l=is leaking from the top off-side corner.
I am getting our local garage to fit a new one, and am providing the parts myself.
The Nissens 94257 has arrived but does not seem to have o-rings with it.
Perhaps they are inside the entry pipes but I am reluctant to remove the protective caps to take a look in there. Is it OK to remove the caps, or is there some kind of protective gas in there?
The diagram in the manual (attached) shows a couple of ridges on the pipes, and some seals beyond the ends of the pipes.
Is there just one seal (o-ring?) per pipe, or are there additional ones on the pipes?
Lastly, in case I need to get the o-rings, does anyone have the part number(s)?
As ever, info greatly appreciated...!

The condensers do not come with new o rings, in the pic it shows the o ring i mid air and the ridge on the pipe that the o ring and securing nut go up against, new replacements rings would be best.

well, you think it would be easy to get a pair of o-rings to fit the pipes, but it seems to be tricky.
Anyone got a lead to a good supplier?
I don't want to buy a box of several dozen assorted sizes, but it seems to be headed that way....
 
I think the O rings for the aircon are special, all the ones I have seen have been green in colour.
Yes, they are made of NHBR (usually pale green) not plain rubber. But it's only £10 or so for a box of 270 (from Neilsen, a good make) so I think I'll buy a box-full, use what I need and then sell it almost complete on eBay....

They want the VIN or reg number, neither of which they can then find as it's a Japanese import. It uses a standard size P38 condenser, but it seems beyond their mental capabilities to work out what o-rings are needed. I'll get a kit.

My experience with o-rings in general is that Land Rover go out of their way to find odd thicknesses that are always thicker or thinner than the ones in the kits.

How much can a couple of 5p o-rings possibly be?!

Rimmer Bros site might give you the part number easily.

That's my worry - the kit generic o-ring being the right diameter but the wrong thickness.
I'll keep trying with Rimmer Bros - they have several different ones listed and don't seem able to give dimensions, or usage details.
 
Those 9mm and 11mm o-rings are for later model pipe-to-compressor joints. That is the type of compressor where the pipes join from different directions. If both pipes into the compressor join from the same side, they won't fit.
Attached photo shows the earlier type of compressor (GEMS) that they DON'T FIT. (Note the UV trace showing leaks).

I have just removed mine of the scrapper
2 O rings 1 is larger than the other the large 1 is 14mm OD 11mm ID can't find the smaller 1 must be in the pit;) but its pipe measures 9OD, this is the condenser end not the compressor end

Lrcat only list 5 sizes


These are from a 96 Gems, yes 1 of the O rings at the compressor is a 14mm too.

Apologies, my mistake on my earlier reply.
The supplier's descriptions on these don't match the sizes (listing says pipe-to-dryer and pipe-to-compressor) and when I asked, they said they could not supply pipe-to-condenser o-rings.
They told me to get them from JLR. Who don't have them of course.
Confusing, because 9mm ID and 11mm ID would seem right for the 10mm and 12mm pipes.
I might just get these, plus a kit, and take the lot to the garage with the new condenser.

Ah, I mis-read it: they really mean "the condenser end of the pipe that then goes to the dryer".
