Hi i just put a new battery on my 1999 diesel p38 car starts great can't lock or unlock car with keyfob i have searched on here but most problems with keyfob car won't start but mine doe's any idea's thanks Andy

Put key in ignition position II and press a few buttons that should sync key. Or in door lock and turn with buttons pushed. Various ways of doing it, a 99 should self sync i think. Mozz is your man for syncing things.

Bet you didn't follow battery removal procedure did you. Slacken negative lead. Do not remove. Switch ignition on and off then remove lead within 17 seconds.

no i didn't got a flat battery last night got greenflag out jump started it bought new battery this morning replaced, car starts but no locking/unlocking need help

Perform the resync as Wammers says above....
Usually for the post 99 it is just a case of putting it in the ignition and starting the car....but my '99 DSE - I had to Lock using the key and press the Lock button, then Unlock using the key and press the Unlock button, then start the car....

Just depends when it was made and when it was registered. Could be first registered 99 but a 98 model. So it won't have the self sync. Mine was made 98 registered 99 and has self sync. Might be wrong but think the ones that come up with key fob batteries low are self sync. Because they have the coil in the ignition barrel. But might be wrong about that someone will correct me i am sure.

Send Mozzy Smith a PM he is really good at breaking into Range rovers. Maybe i should rephrase that. Good with Range rover door lock syncing.

Then pretty sure to be a MY99. Unless it was stuck in showroom somewhere for almost a year. Build date should be on stick on label in handbook. But you won't have that now.
Well, for what it's worth, mine is a MY98, registered Jul/98 and the syncing works just by inserting the key in the ignition. I know it because last weekend I removed the batteries from the fob and it synchronized that way. I had no luck with the lock/push lock button, unlock/push unlock button method.

Mine probably did have easy sync coil but the buttons most of the time were reluctant to work - so resorted to locking on the key - never superlock mind or you'll end up in a world of hurt!!

You could be correct don't know when coil around barrel came in maybe 98. But if you take the batteries out and get them back in usually within ten minutes you should not need to resync the fob.

Hi i've tried all the ways i've been told and no go is there any other way to reset it mybe a garage or something.

Changed the batteries in your fob? Cant see how you dont have immobiliser probs without being able to lok and unlock by remote.
Try holding the fob next to the rear window and pressing unlock first a couple of times while its unlocked then try locking. Works on mine when it refuses to lock for no apparent reason.
Failing that lock the doors from the inside and close. Manually open the door with the key while holding the unlock button. Put key in the ignition and the red light should flash and unlock the rest of the doors. That should help trouble shoot

machine may not tell you much, its odd how your immobiliser still disengages without using the remote...I would maybe have a look at the rf receiver.
On mine, if its the time of the month, it will come up with "engine disabled" and flash "use remote" and then she'll fire.
Have you changed the batteries in the remote and do you get the red flash wehn you put the fob in the ignition?

where is the rf receiver is it in the boot somewhere i changed batteries a few weeks ago and worked fine and i don't get red flash when i put key in ignition also the red light on dash which flashed when locked hasn't flashed since car battery change.

RF Rec. is under the rear seat locking button plastic finish thingy - Drivers side IIRC
