hi guys,
I have a 200tdi conversion which was running fine with the temp gauge at half way.
Whilst driving to work it snapped the aux belt and as such I drove it home with no power steering and it got hot. Journey was about 5 miles.
I replaced aux belt and since then the temp runs at 3/4 or full hot if towing.
There is no mayo in oil, no water in exhaust, pipes feel hot but no over pressurised, I can squeeze them and they are quite hard.
Could having traveled 5 miles got caused damage?
Plan to try and have a look this weekend but as it was fine before don't know where is best to start

If hoses are hard you know the answer!
Most engines can run for a minute or two with no water at idle and a quite a few minutes with no circulating water, but 5 miles is way to far for any engine.

Ok
I'll do the head gasket at same time as timing belt I guess.
Was hoping it wasn't that.
Do you recommend skimming the head?

Radiator is hot also so guess that shows water is circulating and not blocked so guess head gasket would be a good start
