@gstuart that's the one, you are a gentleman and I thank you.
My front left sensor has gone wonky so gonna have a play with a little hand held scope.
One of the reviews say the Hantek has short leads so a longer usb cable may be an advantage. As you say it's not something you would hope to need very aften.
I had 3 scopes in the garage from around 20 years ago, I know I binned one that blew up but I'm gonna have a look if I kept the other 2.
Didn't look into it much as working from home and getting mithered to death today. I was thinking bluetooth to a tablet would be good if I was seriously considering one.
Is it still in warranty?

@gstuart I've just had a play scoping some wave forms and TBH the LM2001 is pretty crap. Not much adjustment on the voltage scale and non on the frequency. Although it does tell you what they are in numbers the visible graph on the screen is too cramped to see a decent waveform.
As a digital multimeter it's fine but as a scope I wouldn't waste your money.
@gstuart I think bigger is deffinately better here. The more I look at them the more I get drawn back to the Hantek , even the reviews can't fault it for the money.
If I was in the market for one I think I would just get the Hantek (erm payday next week)
