Having replaced airbags about 2 yrs ago (reasonably straighforward) I now have problem with O/S rear down. Corner drops right down when parked. First thing in morning at start-up, this corner rises to virtually standard height and remains there for around 30 seconds, then drops slowly again to lowest level over about another 30 seconds ! It is drivable, just, but I am at a loss to find fault. Am tempted to order and replace airbag (again) and also height sensor on this corner. while I am at it.
What are the chances that this will cure the problem ? The compressor etc seem to be ok as rear N/S inflation seems ok.
Any other suggestions of what I can check, before parting with my cash for bits ?
I can't believe this has happened so soon after airbag replacement.
Any you folk come across these fault symptoms ??

The soapy water is a good start, just use it on the valves too.... if no visible bubbles here's a guide >

How u can "isolate" the fault to be certain on what is faulty without spending bigger money based on guesses:

1, Sensors - swap them from one side to another... the deflation will move to the other side, or dissapear(cos the sensors will work on the unused part of them)

2. Airsprings... u have to make a small but worthy investment : Air Suspension emergency Air Valves 4mm OD Discovery 2 | eBay take out the SLS relay, attach these to the springs and inflate the bags with a tyre inflator untill the normal height. If the bags are good they will keep the level for days.

There also could be a management or faulty valve issue but that's not so common.

Hi again. Definately have found the height sensor is knackered. Have tried to remove this but cannot figure out size of the two small retaining bolts to chassis. Suspension arm end is off ok, but cannot find spanner or socket to fit the two small bolts holding sensor to chassis !!! Any you folks got a LR manual that would give the size of these ?
I am stuck up north on Isle of Skye with no access to my manual.
It never rains but it pours !!!!!!!

It's M5 x10 FS105107P flanged bolt, i think nr 8 or 9 head

Thanks for really quick reply. Scuse my ignorance, but are you saying I should be using a 8mm or possibly 9mm socket ?

It's peeing down here on the Isle of Skye, and I am not under cover !

Struth !!!!!

U can also disconnect the sensor from the radius arm and turn it with your hand untill the car reaches the aprox. normal level then use something to block the sensor in that position(a piece of wire, ducttape,etc)... with engine running and all doors closed off course. U can go untill home this way cos that side of the car will stay there if the airbag is good

OK Sieraferry. Thanks for help. Have tried trick with sensor. Works a treat.
Will probably use that trick to get me home.
Cheers
Dave

If u blocked the sensor to go home, when the car is on level unplug everything(electric plugs) in the compressor housing to not burn the compressor or by accident overinflate/blow the bags... if the bags and the valves are good, with everything disconnected the car will stay on level for days without any incidents

and dont forget to disconnect battery before u unplug the sensors otherwise u might need calibration

My advise would be bin the lot! Seriously buy a coil spring kit for about 70 quid and unplug the lot. I did to my old td5 with air suspension ( opted for the model without this time). No lights came up on dash or anything, ride was fine

Keep the air suspension. It does allow you to put some good weight on a trailer or even in the back of the truck and thanks to the air bags it handles quite fine. They do go wrong, but don't forget Discoverys have a long list of other niggles.
