Having done some minor off-roading in my P38, I am thinking about switching to another Landy to do some more serious stuff. My main problem with the P38 is the lack of after-market kit to really pimp her up, so I am thinking about either a Defender 90 SWB or a Disco-2.

Be interested to hear from you guys what you think of the two, which you prefer, and what you think stands the best chance of being a serious (i.e. more than competent) off-roader, but still able to do the shopping in.

Also posted this on the Rangey forum and the Disco forum, I hope that doesn't break any rules.

Thanks!

Jock

hello mate, i would go for a 90 if i were you, they are more nimble and can squeeze through gaps that a disco or rangey would be stuck tight, really depends on your budget and how you feel about getting it well dirty inside, i got a disco 2, lovely motor but i wouldnt take it off road, thats what my 90 V8 is for.

cheers pete

90 is better for off roading imo (but i would say that). but cost more. if its a toy discos are far cheaper but have high roofs and get stuck!

disco is more comfortable for driving to tesco in though

If your wantin a 'Serious off-roader' then its obviously the Defender. Thats what they were designed for!

Plus youl have plenty of room for the shopping in the back (Thats with all the recovery gear in there too!)

Yes the Discos may be 'comfier' but theres nothing wrong with you fitting a couple of new seats. Iv got two Mambo bucket seats in mine and i can sit in them all day and not feel a thing!

To balance it out for the shopping run go for a 200/300tdi, good on fuel, awsome off road and good on road!
