Not running right

Starts but sounds like it's about to die, touch the throttle and it does die. I noticed the little hoses on the spill rail have all got holes in and are leaking.
Could this be my problem?

Going to go get a length of hose this morning, sounds like it's not getting enough fuel

New spill rail hoses and still won't start. Don't think the engine is getting diesel

That'll be because of the masses of air now in the system...

HAve you fiddled with the fuel filter? If no leave well alone and do the following.

Slacken the return banjo on the back of the injection pump. Crank till it spurts diesel and nip it up again. If it still wont start crack the injection pipes on the top of the injectors (probably only need do one) and get that to spurt diesel.
