You did put the o-rings onto the pipes didn't you before fitting? 🤔
I did! They're on there somewhere, 11 quid from the main dealer
You can magnetise your screwdriver tip with a magnet!
I tried this with a fridge magnet, but I think it was too weak, the magnetisation was pathetic. Think I'll make a trip to Screwfix

I pulled the pipes + clamp out to take the pic, that's why it's not sitting right.
Do the flanges on the pipes sit on top of the inlet surface? Or do they go further in?

Someone has been and butchered the threads in it too.
Made 10x harder by the fact that I don't have a magnetic screwdriver! Sod keeps falling off.

I'll try again in the morning, thanks for your advice
Replace the screw with a socket head screw. There are recesses into which the O rings go.

Back again.

Greased up the O rings but still no luck with the securing bracket.

Does the bracket slot in to place first before tightening? Right now it's loose and I'm having to push it up with my hands when trying to screw it on. I've pushed and riddled with it but cannot find an orientation where it tighents down properly:

Quick update:

Managed to screw it down, but I'm not convinced it's right:

See those two little teeth on the edge of the bracket? Top one doesn't seem to be making contact with the matrix, and the bottom one is on top of the inlet instead of reaching over it.

(This is compared to the pics on Paul's heater core replacement page)

As long as the collars on each pipe sit against the black plastic they are are home. The aluminum collar should be sat equally across the pipes in relation to the black plastic receiver 👍

Maybe loosen it and faf with it a little. The proof will be when you warm the engine and check your work👍
Are you sure the o-rings are correct for the application? 🤔

Ended up loosening it for now and leaving it for the evening. Wasn't happy with the way it was sitting.

I'm pretty sure the O rings are right, they're straight from the LR dealer, part number that was given previously in this thread.

Might replace the screw with something a bit more robust - anybody know what size fits? M5 x 20?
