Non-starting 300tdi

Good day all, i have a 300tdi that refuses to start after a timing belt change....the belt was removed with the use of the timing kit.As it stand right now the timing is set using the kit...the valve clearances have been checked and i am getting fuel to the injectors. The lift pump has been changed as have the glow plugs and relay, also i am getting current at the stop solenoid. i ahve run a compression test on the engine also and have been met with results as follows: no oil cylinders 1-4....400,350,320,380. With oil....400,370,380,400. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

2&3 are low IMHO.
Head gasket?
Should start though.
Did it run before the belt change?
Fecked up the timing by the sound of it.

if it ran ok before belt change it should now ,unless its timed wrong, or what else did you do

it did run well......the only thing i didnt mention is a camshaft and crankshaft front seal change.....after that the lift pump failed and has since then been replaced(the pump wasnt allowing diesel to come from the tank)

as it is now i can get it to start but not idle

is lift pump piped up right way round, if you slacken front banjo bolt on pump and turn engine over with stop solenoid wire off does it produce air or just a good flow of pure fuel

if you just did belt and seals it should have started even with a failed lift pump unless you disturbed fuel system if running ok before

did not disturb fuel system.....the only issue i had was getting the crank gear out as the previous mechanic used threadlocker on the crankshaft

tis a bummer when they do that, try fuel first then go from there

Did you move the plate on the front of the IP? You should have done.

When you changed the cam seal how did you remove the sprocket, did you disturb the 3 bolts or just the central bolt?

Hi all.....update....timing rechecked, valve clearances good, fuel to pump good, pushrods good, injectors spraying good...........still not starting

Where abouts are you? How did you check the injectors? Have you checked the live feed to the fuel solenoid?

Does it smoke at all when cranking? If so the timing is out or valve clearances are wrong, if there's no smoke I'd gess at its not injecting.

Good night all, problem solved.....apparantly the previous mechanic did some 'work' on the pump and interfered with the timing so was just a matter of finding the correct ip timing......Thanks all for the help.
