new range of landies ?

hello after takin a new disco 4 out at a experence centre skipton.

i was really impressed with how it drived on and off the road !! and the comfort,style etc etc my prefect car the down side was that i cant afford one ..:doh:

i was just wounderin if any u guys have tried any of the new range and ur views....

i think i will defend the new disco 4 as the best all round car/4x4 u can buy !!! it will go any wer !! any one agrees ???

I test drove the new (ish) defender about 2 years ago. It was very impressive, but a bit boring, came to a really steep muddy bit and the guy said, take your feet off everything and it will sort itself out.

yes, great, the engine won't ever stall, etc.

BUT WHERE'S THE FUN IN THAT?!!?!?!

The joy of taking an old beat up landie off road is there is some skill and fun in keeping it going, not getting stuck, not breaking too much.

But as i could never afford one anyway, it was a good day to play but was happy when i walked away at the end.

Guess it comes down to what you need / want the vehicle for really.

i drove a brand new l322 at an experince.65k worth.Was great, very easy.Wouldnt do it if it were my mota though.

Performance and engine wise they are great, but the design lets it down, they look like big boxes on wheels. Defenders and old style disco's look much nicer I think. The new disco, well since the III came out needs the edges rounded off a bit, it's too square for me.
Have had a series 1 and a 2 before but in terms of a fun drive nothing beats my Defender

Driven a RR Sport TDV8 and loved it. Cant see me getting one for a few years

Cant stand what they have done with the new RR's with the chav lights :doh:

I do like all of the current Land Rover line-up, with the exception of the Sport. And yes, even the new Freelander is OK in my books. Had a play around with a brand new Defender TDCi 90 Hard Top last week. The interior is hugely improved, almost 'car-like', as is the equipment, but I kept noticing things that didn't feel as sturdy or as long-lasting as on my 20 year old 110. For instance, I very much doubt the door mechanisms will last as long, and all of the panels seem very flimsy in comparison.

I prefer the look of the older discoverys 1's & 2's or the older Rangies, the new Discovery is beginning to look like many other cars on the road.

Hey fellas... don't you think that if you spend £65 grand on a motor you are going to think twice about it going off road?

Seems like some Land Rovers are bleedin lovely executive motors... but surely if you are going to break it..(and lets face it most of us will if we use it for what its meant for), the cheaper stuff is better.

For proper landrovers read "less than £3000". For tomorrow's proper landrovers "who the **** knows... they will probably be illegal if the bobblies get their way!
