Yeah the handbrake is crap and the doozils do have a propensity fir ingesting turbos, but my query was in regard to reliability. Compared to the Freelander (it's lr equivalent) mine has been superb. (mine is a 2.0 petrol).

Like the P38 there are good ones and bad ones. The big plus for me with the P38 is that parts are relatively cheap and I can access all the electronics. Was not possible on the Xtrail, also every time it went near a stealer I got no change from €300:(
Unlike the Xtrail, the P38 has never let me down and is sooo comfortable:D Yeah I know, I'm pushing my luck by saying so:rolleyes:

My previous P38 was a 1996 DSE, which my dad had owned from new without issue, I had it for 3 years - without issue, and it was sold on locally, I see it at least once a week and yes its running without issues....

I replaced it with a V8 which I have owned for 3 years now, the only problem is the battery going flat if I leave it a week, I have learnt to live with the problem... and as stated in an earlier posts a lot of modern vehicles are prone to electrical faults... have a look a any forum for any vehicle and all you will see posted up are posts of faults that are particular to that model.... I would guess 90% of people join up for that reason.... and then if the company is good they stay

Talk about high-jacking a thread! I thought that LenB's post was about a mag not bloody P38's so could we get back to the original subject folks. Anyone else got any input regarding this mag?

That's why I very rarely post ..... too many going off topic :(

Anyway if you look at the publishers website Welcome to KELSEY Publishing Online and click on books you will find it there. It seems as though it may be a one off but still a good read if you own a P38 and onwards. Although that assumes all 'classic' owners are anti P38 and I'm sure there are some who do like them .... :)

Of course it was a diesel, I live in france and diesel is much cheaper than petrol:rolleyes:
Drum handbrakes inside discs work well if they are properly designed, the Xtrail's are so bad it would not pass the French MOT without over adjustment. Almost impossible to start on a hill with the caravan on the back. Nissan admitted that it was a design fault, then told me to eff off:mad:
Truly a complete bag of ****e. Oh and the SatNav was worse then useless, I reckon the mapping was circa 1970.
The Navarro is even worse for reliability.
Me old mans is the same.Eats clutches when towing, cant idle steady for ****, summit with the fuel pump.....etc,etc.So much so his looking at gaylander2s
