new fuel filter?

Hi guys. Could anyone reccomend a good filter to replace this ?

Any will do as they are are a carp filter and not much cop except for the bigger chunks
Well worth the effort to fit a tdi filter head and filter
 
I have a Delphi in mine might change it after changing starter and alternator and radiator and keep current engine for as long as it lasts there is almost no benefit of a tdi filter as they are more expensive as well

There is no problem with the CAV Delphi system, as long as you follow instructions.

Drain water trap every week. Change fuel filter element every year, or six months if you do a lot of miles, or suspect poor fuel quality.

You will not get a problem.
 
Be interesting to know what microns the cav filters down to compared to more modern filter set ups?

Adequate for the fuel pumps they supply. I service some old tractors that have been running for 50 years on the same IP.

Modern common rail probably needs a bit finer filtration.

You are most likely right, bit of googling seems to suggest 20 micron whereas newer stuff can be 5 or even 2 micron.
30 years ago we used to have loads of ford donkey engines with them same filters, Crossland Iirc, think they were a quid each.

Would think 20 micron is about right, seem to remember that from CAV literature back in the day.

I buy the Delphi ones I posted in boxes of 50, they are about £1.50 each in bulk.

I have used Crosland in the past too, not had any problems with them. I like the genuine CAV logo on the Delphi ones, Delphi took over the CAV parts operation when CAV folded.
 
Thought they just unscrewed then screwed on lol.

Simple enough, just remember to make sure you have all the old o-rings removed before fitting new ones.
There is defo bit of an art to fitting them, rush or get heavy handed and you will have running issues from air or diesel leaks.

Same as this set up, ps love the guys hair!

I find Google has all the answers, videos and tips. Watched a couple of great tubes on Defender wheel bearings last night also.
 
Ok changed it. But landy still erratic. One minute i rev and she goes. Next she takes a while to kick in. Plus she almost stalls when coming to a stop. Any ideas ?
