Having just read the subject of the link provided by @sierrafery I'd be straight out looking at the looms for damage. If the fuel pump runs with the relay out it points to a short somewhere.

means that your fuel delivery system is well sealed, i've seen many cases when Td5's are running rough with dead pump on residual pressure untill the pressure is released somewhereStrange thing is that if I take the relay out completely, the vehicle still starts fine. Don’t understand !!!.
