New Defender with issues that LR are at a loss why.

I'd be fuming if I Bought a motor and the sunroof broke at 7000 miles. But I buy decent motors so not too much of a concern.

If it's a brand new car. Nothing should break.

I got into an argument on facebook with some chap who said the 4 range rovers he'd had in the last 12 years were really reliable. A new car every 3 years is nuts to me, a complete environmental disaster just underlining our throw away society, but that's a different thread. For the price or a range rover I'd only want consumable parts to be replaced for a very long time.

But that's the point; the new Def is likely to be sold on a lease deal with servicing and warranty all bundled in and the vehicle then sold on at auction after the lease ends. Buyer beware. So 1st owner has no reliability worries, the lease co deal with that and if a vehicle is unreliable they price that in. Person who gets the worst deal is the 2nd owner as its still a premium car, but a breakdowns will really cost. After 10 years and on its 3 - 4th owner its either working or it isn't and the price will be low enough to take a few hits or scrap it. I don't like it, I keep my cars 10 years at least, but its the way car ownership is going. Cars are now too costly for "normal" owners to fix.
