sounds like the perfect day:)

I think i will by the gen II to start with :). as i am going to youse it 80% on road and not for hard offroad ..

is it difficult to change them ??

PM me with an Email address and I will send you my guide to changing the airbags.

It's an easy job unless the old bags have alloy endcaps in which case the pins might be corroded in, then it's a bit of a bugger to get them out.

You would be wise to have the EAS software from www.rswsolutions.com before you start in case you need it, although if you follow the guide you should be OK.:D

The original Dunlop lasted for almost 8years before I decided to change them. Would you have a set of tyres on that long ?????? They were not giving any problems but were past their best so I thought "Prevention is better than Cure"

Britpart like LR do not have an Air Spring factory, they are made by Dunlop...the original supplier to LR (Not Arnotts).
I am perfectly happy with the original equipment, can't understand why people want to reinvent the wheel...usually at a grossly inflated cost due to advertising hype...by fitting components, e.g. Air Springs, Plug Leads, Air Filters, redesigned engines, super dooper oils, suspension bushes etc. at a higher cost than OEM parts.
Let's face it, if the Dunlop springs last another 8 years, will you still have the car then?? if so, it's going to cost another £250 to replace the springs. How many tyres at £150 a pop will you have replaced in that time?

so what you saysis that there id nothing won in bying the arnotts gen II ??

What I am saying is that the original design works perfectly well and based on, in my experience 8years use, is not a problem.
It's your cash and if you want Arnotts it's your choice..they have a lifetime guarantee, but what is classed as a lifetime?? Chances are you will not have the car in say 10 years time and to be honest any potential buyer in the future won't give a toss when you say "It has Arnotts GEN III airsprings" no more than they would by saying "Magnecor leads fitted at £100 a pop".
If however, you intend keeping the car until it falls apart...understandable the way prices are dropping, and want airsprings costing almost twice the price because of the guarantee, that means that pound for pound you expect to get approx. 15 years out of them.
The point being that you are pumping money into a commodity that is losing it's value by the day..big time.....Is it worth it to you?????

I paid £30 or £40 more for Arnott Gen 2's. We all know that LR pared everything to the bone on the P38 which is why it is so unreliable. All things can be improved, although new designs these days seem often to overlook the basics, the Trent 900 springs to mind.
It's only my opinion, but I think that the Arnott Gen 2's are worth the small extra cost, they certainly improve the ride quality.

i am thinking of replacing mine for springs, they are a couple of months old,the make is dunlop, original spec £175 for the 4 complete with all the clips,****ed off with the eas faults:(
these are as good as new.if you are interested.

my plan was to keep the car until it fell apart , and that is becauise the prices here in denmark .
here in denmark a p 38 from 97 cost 19000£ :(
i got mine for 2900£ becauise it is taxet asa van :D

and i have loved the p38 sins i first drove in one in 97 :)

so if i get a better suspesion onroad and offroad if i by the gen II insted of the dunlop..

i can se what you mean with the cost so if the genII not i bether than the dunlop no regard to the price

I replaced my 1995 P38 airsprings this year. The original Dunlops were still on after 15 years and only one was actually leaking.I replaced with Dunlops.
I have driven a P38 with Arnott Gen 11 airsprings and could feel no difference in ride quality over the dunlops.
I have not driven a P38 with Arnott Gen111 airsprings,But I believe they are supposed to have a superior performance, but also cost a lot more.
So you make you choices:D

right the the big scheme of things if you are going to keep the motor fit the arnotts i had some of the first set from arnott direct 13 years ago for my dads lse were a pain to fit bellows only but the ride just on new bags was excellent!
5 years later i fitted a set of p38a gen2 to my classic what a difference and from a performace drivers point of veiw transformed the handling to make it very good well worth the cost!

the difference in the bags is the arnott ones are 2" longer than standard and if you are like the yanks and like to play you can increase the offroad height to play and increase clearance.

the gen 2 is a tappered bellows wider at the top tappering down at the bottom and are on plastic bells
the gen3 are tappered the other way and on alloy bells these mimic the l322 tappered air springs for greater comfort and improver handling which is what arnott have reproduced

any iders ??:)

P38spares.co.uk are doing 4xGenII for £300 inc p+p. As they are a product from the good ole USA not many suppliers in this country. With shipping, probably cheaper than getting direct from the states though. As you're in Denmark p+p will be dearer than above, but you might save on the Vodka + Tonic (vat).
