are you keeping the front spoiler when offroading?MPG is apprently also affected.

Yeah I am keeping it - I've modified it to take the towing strops through. I want to keep the car as standard looking as possible and personally I don't think they look right without the front spoiler, so it's staying! With the EAS in "offroad" mode it shouldn't have too many problems, and it's pretty flexible if it does hit anything.
 
ive done plenty of laning with the front spoiler on on my 1990 and its fine, only ever had a little mud in it-on the same trip I manged to fill both back bumper end caps with mud too so it wasnt due to too easy lanes.

the solenoid was the problem for not re-starting but what about the cutting out mike. this one is more work than your old one.

It has cut out a couple of times before but always restarted - it only happens when running on LPG and at low speeds, the revs just don't catch every time, like the flywheel doesn't catch it if that makes sense. But it's always restarted fine, before today! So need to sort both problems now...!
 
yeah I have one just for a hobby too now and a jap and a german car to actually get me to places lol

Yep - I have a BMW 330Ci 'daily driver' which is a brilliant car, absolutely love it - and it gets me places, apart from in the snow!! That's when the Range Rover (hopefully) comes into play.
 
that was my theory too , but my 90 classic loved to break down only in the snow both years :doh:

so it was ****canned!
 
You doing pretty well on the truck Mike. As for the front spoiler, I have been laning with Fett a few times. Him with normal spoiler and Me with a full brooklands kit. Neither of us having any problems.
Have you sorted your H/U woes yet?

Thanks Khryztal :) Only problem is, I currently need to fit a new starter motor, which looks a pig of a job getting to the mounting bolts! Hoping to tackle that this evening.

As for the h/u, that is a no-go unfortunately! Took it to my mates brother who runs a car audio company and it's about £200 to get it working. Basically, mine has the uprated Clarion system which has an amp in either door and rear 3/4 panel. The front doors have two speakers each + tweeters on the a-pillars. To get them all working basically means running new wires to each speaker to bypass the amps, and if I'm doing that I may as well fit new speakers too - really not worth it, so sticking with the stock h/u and trying to get the CD changer to work instead!!
 
Well the starter motor was an absolute pig of a job. Moral of the story: don't trust Haynes!! The manual would have you believe this is a "one spanner" job on his difficulty rating - but looking at the photo's they did it with engine removed from the car! With engine, exhaust and various suspension components in place it is a right ba$tard to get to the two mounting bolts! On mine they were 8mm allen key bolts too, so can't even get a ratcher spanner on them! :frusty:

Eventually had to tow it to the local garage who, with two men and a 3ft breaker bar, eventually managed to get the bolts loose and swap the starter motor over! Still, at least it's done and the car is running sweetly again.

Which brings me on to the next round of modifications, which looks something like this:

- New steering damper - likely to be a Britpart (booo!) Cellular Dynamics (yay!) uprated one
- New front shock absorbers - Monroe Adventure shocks, to match the rears and new air springs all round
- Steering guard - will be hidden by front bumper so keep the 'standard' look, but will be essential to protect vulnerable steering components
- Uprated headlight bulbs - after ditching the spot light idea (didn't look right + blocked airflow to the radiator), I need to get the headlights working to their maximum capacity
- New windscreen wipers, because the current ones are $hit

Also got a new key as the car only came with one, so will get that cut today. Need to get a new alarm fob too, or remove the alarm/immobiliser - haven't decided which route to take yet!
 
mike those ring automotive headlights are super bright and come with all the bulbs, they are only £22 and 10 mins to fit. I would do that rather than **** about with bulbs as the reflectors a lot better too :D

mike those ring automotive headlights are super bright and come with all the bulbs, they are only £22 and 10 mins to fit. I would do that rather than **** about with bulbs as the reflectors a lot better too :D

The previous owner already fitted new headlamp units, the ones with the 'angel eye' ring round the outside (although the side light 'angel eye' is not connected, thankfully. So the reflectors should be pretty good, just want brighter bulbs too :)

Really? The previous owner fitted a pair to the back, I thought the Adventure model was quite a premium shock absorber?

I could reach one bolt but not the other. Mine hadn't given up at that point so I left it to work out how.
At which point it did give up so the AA took it to a local autoelectricians last xmas eve and they had a pig of a job to do it. I think they ended up taking the exhaust manifold off to get access as one of the bolts was fubared too.
 
Seeing as you are going for expedition spec. Would you fancy a set of hd track and drag? I fitted it to my old one. But with current one having Overfinch modified steering track bar doesnt fit.

Not much to say about them. Apart from they are thicker than standard ones, and are solid not tobes. were used for about 15 months and still good. No dents and kncoks on the,. with very good track rod ends.

Excuse my ignorance, but why would they need to be stronger? Are they items that are likely to break?!
