I sanded it back with progressively finer grit paper, gave her 3-4 coats of etch primer then finished the job with some MIPA satin black. I used a bunch of stuff i had left over from other jobs but if you can get it, i'd recommend either MIPA paints or Wurth. The finish is pretty tough so i won't need to lacquer it and i got the whole thing done in a day!
