A couple of weeks ago i pulled the defender out:
Got the buck off and up against the wall
Got the A bar undone:
Then the springs out and trailing arms undone:
And got the axle away and with the buck:
Then with a little help from my friends, turned the chassis upside down and back on stands ready for the underside to be cleaned up and the grot dealt with:
I carried on stripping the chassis of bushes, arms etc and then grinded the crud off and its all mint underneath so thats all good
And got the gearbox crossmember off the defender:
Then this arrived.....
She's a beut! Drives lovely and other than the little dent in the door and the small corrosion on one arch its very tidy.
Only just fits under the car port though!
This weekend just gone i went to Mr 'Lips' Lane's to collect him and his trailer, and we trundled of to Canterbury. They had a fair amount of snow!
And loaded up my new purchase
Was very impressed with the silver one. 300 miles, £60 of diesel and bear in mind half the time it was carrying its weight again plus the trailer. We had a 35mph climb up the M20s hills lmao and we got wasted by the passing arctics, and a 'dont look in the rear view mirror' moment when we got some snaking going on, but other than that a good run. Thanks again to Lips for his driving duties, which ill need again come scrap time
So today we cracked on. It started like this:
And ended up like this:
I got the props, exhaust, gear selector, Gearbox cooler, engine mounts, and gearbox mounts all disconnected, whilst John disconnected the engine, oil cooler, rad and intercooler, removed the interior parts and front end bits.
Wednesday we will cut the front panel off and lift the lot out. Jobs a goodun
