Could (or does) the tester put the VIN number in to his computer before he does the test and be told that it was fitted with a CAT when it was built?

i dont recall there being any info on the fitment of a cat when the VIN is entered, MOT guys only worry if its a petrol car as they have to have a cat after 1992 (i think, could be wrong?). diesel cars dont have to have a cat, and if the emissions pass but the MOT station fails the car for not having a cat then you should report the test station to VOSA.

come on guys get it right,
it's the age of the engine not the car that says wether it needs and cat (need proof if your using older engine, or keep quiet if using a newer engine) and you do not need a cat on ANY car, as long as the emssions are below the limits (the only way of passing is to have a cat) so it fails on emissions not lack of cat.

just thought i'd clear that lil bit up

but remember VOSA change there **** more than MP's
