Well, right at this very moment the beastie is down the road having her MOT done... ****ting meself!:eek::eek:

I've done everything I can think on her... all electrics are good, brakes, no rust anywhere, the only thing I'm worried about is the steering, which has a little bit of play in it...

Will it be a pass with flying colours or a fail of epic proportions?

... Stay tuned to find out! :D:D:D

FAIL. :(

She failed on two things, firstly the power steering is disconnected, because I broke the pipe when taking the tdi out of the Disco, which is a fail. Secondly apparently one of the front swivels/bearings is rogered, he said he lifted the front end up and could wobble the front wheel from top to bottom, so not sure what needs to be done here - I think I'm gonna let the garage sort that one out.

All I need now then is a Disco high pressure PAS pipe, and I've gotta hope I haven't buggered the PAS pump running it without fluid for a few miles :doh::doh:

wheel bearing is dead easy to change..and cost about 14quid...

Im sure there's an how to in one of Buster's guides...

I'm not sure if it is the wheel bearing or not, it might be something wrong with the swivel? He said he could rock the wheel back and forth quite a lot.

He might be on about your swivel bearings. But You can't tell that much by rocking it as the brake calipar and pads limit its movement. If you have time stripp your hub down and have a look. Inspect all the bearings.

Sorry to hear about your diappointing MOT.Know that "MOT nerves"feeling too although my vehicle passed this time(phew!!!).As stated previously swivels can be adjusted or replaced. Its not a bad job (you will need a small spring balance)and the parts are fairly cheap.Well worth it for the joy of driving a 1989 classic.Good luck
