I had a chat with someone I know serving in the military and as long as we stay away from the Algerian border everything looks good. Basically Western Sahara and the Sahel region are to be avoided as there has been ISIS cells pop up there and have been kidnappings and killings of non nationals going on. So far the current government is pro West, and communicates with the Western governments quite freely regarding Islamic terrorists.

I'm running on the original 1990 standard Defender springs with ProComp shocks. The shocks were fitted about three years ago and are still good to go again.

I think they had Bearmach blue springs on Chriss's Discovery and the P38. No doubt they will come on here.

We took a load of tin stuff. Things like chilly con carne, Paella. stews etc. complete meals in a can. Plus tin fruites. The main reason was due to us not having a good refrigeration. I also took jars of bolognaise veg and soups but they didn't survive the terrain. As soon as we went off road they were all smashed. We bought most of the food here in France were I find tin foods are much better and more choice. One day we did buy some meat in a small village, I don't know to this day what it was but it didn't taste to bad once it had been put on the BBQ and washed down with a few beers and wine whilst sat round a camp fire.

We did spend one night sleeping without tents as it was a beautiful night with lots of shooting stars.

We had Bearmarc blue springs +2 " lift and terrafirma hd+2 shocks on ours. Turns out one of the shocks had leaked so has been replaced under warranty.
Chap from terrafirma asked 'Has it been off roading much' .... er, no not much

Cool, thanks. Will begin stocking up on stuff. Did you take enough food to cover the whole trip, or bought stuff out there?
I'm hoping to fit a set of RX8 seats before the trip, can't afford the real Land Rover ones!

I've had winch bumper and winch installed now, just in the process of installing the HD drive flanges which has needed a new hub as after snapping a couple of bolts in one and making quite frankly the worst job of drilling a bolt out.
I had it re-mapped yesterday and the transformation in grunt is quite amazing, but as usual, every job I do exposes yet another part needing replacement, this time it was the mass air flow meter which Land Rover kindly extracted £120.
I was talking to Mansfield 4X4 as they have completed a few trips to Morocco, they suggested just fitting HD front springs and either standard shocks or de-carbon ones, they sell Terrafirma but said that they have had a few failures with them. Been put off by Old Man Emu as too may people say the springs sag, so all things considered I will stick with a fairly standard set up, plus I like the standard ride comfort.
