I used to know Pete Gill when he did his stint in Motorhead (Orgasmatron era). Got to meet the rest of them all briefly at a sound check. Lovely bunch of guys.Motorhead invented thrash imho.
Watched Phil do a 20 mine solo with Lemmy popping back onto stage every few minutes to pour cold lager on him.
Had to ride me motorcycle back home with no trainers cos I lost them in the most pit

I think there's a few eye tests needed. All blokes, but it was the early 90's and big hair was required by law

Not a Rootes car. From the same group as the Victor and definitely of that era, but its not a Vauxhall. The wheels should have had nice shiny chrome hubcapsPossibly a Humber - maybe the Hawk estate ?
Love this - I've always thought that a 2.0 straight six in my '67 Mk3 Spitty would be a wonderful thing! If I did, I'd probably look to mount it a bit further back so that the block is comfortably behind the front axle line. It would almost certainly need a new diff though! LOLSpot on GG.
It actually started life as a 1970 1300 Mk3 Spitfire. It was winter when the picture was taken, so it's wearing its hardtop.
There wasn't very much of the original Spitfire left, after much restoration, replacement and modification.
The bonnet was a modified Spitfire bonnet, with a bulge grafted in so the overbored 2.8 litre straight six would fit.
Triple Stromburge carbs were used because of the look, more than performance. It made a respectful 150Bhp and 160Ftbl of torque.

The car was nothing like it left the factory and, I think all the better for it.
The interior was full cream leather, the dash was walnut and the suspension was modified with custom front and rear springs and anti roll bars.
The braking was far from factory too. Up front it had 280mm X drilled, vented discs and Wilwood 4 pot calipers. Rear had custom shoe linings and larger cylinders.
I could go on all day about that car. I often wonder where it is today.
Sadly I didn't actually own it. I was commissioned by the owner to create something "unique" which I think was achieved. It was the best Spit I've ever driven. It actually drove like a TVR, which is quite an achievement, considering the Spitfire's humble Herald underpinnings.
