but you can import a car into the US from canada easy enough right? so im led to believe from a conversation i overheard.

care to enlighten me John?

Yes you can, but most cars in canada are made to Us spec's. Lots of folks have tried the canada to US import thing. And if a defender tries to cross from Canada to the US it is inspected and if it is not to Us requirements then it is prevented from entry, no different than if they try to enter a sea port in a container. There are some who have sneaked them across the border and registered them in the states and in about a year customs comes calling with a tow truck and you know the rest.

I work for the US airforce here in the uk, quite a lot of the americans buy landies and want to send them back home, big problem at the moment is they wont let them import them if it hsnt the original type engine fitted.

So what alot are now doing is having the original engine fitted into them from the tdi conversion and shipping the tdi engine seperate.
