LR3: Rock Sliders - Will Alloy be enough?

So this is a question I've been mulling over in my noggin. Will Alloy Rock Sliders be able to handle the weight of a Disco3?

It's one of those questions where I think: It may do, but do I want to spend the extra and get Steel just so that I don't have to spend the cost of the Steel + the cost of repairs if it all goes titsup.

I'm currently only able to provide one side of the debate to myself, who wants to jump in with more experienced advice?

Cut and shut your sills with 5mm plate and stiffeners that way you will have not added anything as such and it won't have compromised break over and ground clearance.

Proper rock sliders attach to the chassis independent of the body and absorb impacts that way but with the D3 being the way it is the shell is way bigger than the chassis and the body hangs lower too, so that makes it supremely difficult to do it that way, besides, the body mounts very well to the chassis so I would be happy to go down the route of plating up the sills to suit.

If you are going to do stuff, in my opinion something custom is always a nice touch and the addition of tree bars on the HD plating would be a bonus as side step replacements that serve to fend off the odd log that jumps out at you lol

I was thinking along the lines of these: https://www.paddockspares.com/disco-sliders-side-steps-discovery-3-4.html as a drop-in replacement for the current rust-and-plastic sills. I have 2 kids who use them as steps, so multifunction is my friend.
Plus. Welding isn't in my arsenal of skills unfortunately.

What aluminium ones have you seen? I struggle to imagine they would be strong enough if actually used as sliders.

The description seems to have a big misuse of the word "alloy". Alloy does not mean aluminium.

Also it seems the 'bar' part is steel an optional. But no options seem to exist to add to the cart. I'd be wanting to check what you are actually buying.
