I have spoken to a defender tec centre in prague were my 110 200tdi is. they found the problem to be the axle. they said i do not need ot replace the whole axle and that just the joint would be ok. Can any one english help me out. Does this sound correct. they also said i would cost about 300pounds including fitting???

steering wouldn't go from one side to the other easily then a grinding noise when going over bumps and sometimes just normal driving. also when the wheel is jackup drivers side and you put it on full lock when you spin it it bounces back?

well sounds like cv joint to me all i can say is the parts must be expensive over there

Sounds like it must be the CV joint, not a very expensive part in itself, but im not sure what the labour costs would be, also would have to replace all the axle lubes.
Lifes cheaper when you can tackle these problems in your drive!

unfortunatly i'm on the way to an orphanage in Ukraine with clothing toys and food. i'm full to the brim even the full lengh roof rack is packed. I've been stuck in prague with no money stayig in a hall way of a friend on the floor in my sleeping bag. All good fun though!!! the garage said half axle joint?? no need to replace whole axle now

Are they able to break down that price for you? Sounds like they're making a fair old wedge out of the labour charge.... OR... they've never done one before and have massively over-estimated how long it will take!

labour is expensive its about j30 an hour and thy said upto 5 hours although should be less including the diagnostic fee for finding the fault.

just spoken to the boss how speaks good english he said cv joint and it should cost about 200 euros all in
