Hi got a land rover TD5 always started and fired up straight away on first turn of key, started to not start properly over a year ago in that time had a new fuel pump fitted, wiring loom harness and gasket, injector copper washers, fuel filter housing and fuel regulator. Still not starting on first turn of key when facing down hill it will start fine but not facing up hill and sometimes on the flat too. Sometimes when it does start it will run for 5 seconds or so and judder to a stop like run out of diesel, then takes loads of turns to get it started but you can air in the system anyone got any ideas?

Dunno - rust, fatigue, loose connections? If it's when its parked one way but not the other Id guess you have a leak. Park it facing the way it starts for a few days. Then get underneath and look for wet fuel lines. Check carefully around the sender unit in the tank.

The thing to remember is that air is so much thinner than fuel. It will get in where diesel may not easily get out. There doesn't have to be a pool of diesel on the ground, possibly just a damp section of pipe. Many on here suggest that when you re-pipe your fuel system you should include a clear piece so you can see if air is getting in. Perhaps you could try this to eliminate air ingress.
