Got it off, ran a permanent live to solenoid, it was powering (clicking when putting to the live) but still no fuel getting to injectors, i have ordered a new solenoid but does this still look like the same issue?
The solenoid could be clicking but the valve beneath it jammed in the shut position. Unlikely but not impossible. Take the solenoid and stop valve out, take the guts out of it, put it back in (be prepared to have to stall it in a high gear to stop it) and see if you get fuel going through the pipes to the engine and/or through the return rubber pipes.Got it off, ran a permanent live to solenoid, it was powering (clicking when putting to the live) but still no fuel getting to injectors, i have ordered a new solenoid but does this still look like the same issue?

I did also notice today that one of the return pipes has basically completely rotted away, would this affect starting or will it be alright just potential for diesel spill?

Sorry only just seen this! Spent the day on it today with the old man (had these all my life and was always tinkering), old solenoid was knackered! New solonoid in on a switch, it fires but dies, did a big bleed and removed all of the air, idling quite low (around 300rpm) and then dying again, so been advised to bypass the sediment filter and also drain tank and put fresh fuel in. Any other advice would be great!To get around the question of whether fuel is getting to the injection pump or not, i.e. air in the system to the filter etc, just make up a gravity feed and hang it off the bonnet, so fuel goes from that straight to the injection pump.
Disconnect the lift pump, obvs!
Then try it and see.
Have you got the solenoid off yet to see if the valve is sticking or not?
Plan on restoring it to the point of it passing an MOT, then either going to make it an overlander or just go all out and make it into a proper mudslut.Have you checked you're getting fuel from the lift pump to the injection pump? The lift pump is on the side of the block, about half way along it, three bolts and two pipes iirc, but if it's not lifting fuel to the injection pump you're going to get nowhere with this.
On another topic, what's your plans for this "rotbox"? Are you harvesting the running gear or restoring it?
THIS is why I said "make up a gravity tank" it gets around any fuel supply problems, but I am glad that you did check the solenoid and replace the kn@ckered one.Sorry only just seen this! Glad the gravity feed helped point you towards the real problem.So... After a couple of weeks of none stop work ive had chance to get back on to her! She runs, gravity feed worked perfectly ran lovely! Slight coolant leak but nothing not fixable.
Now my only problem is when reconnecting the original fuel lines, its still sucking in a joke amount of air and just constantly dying, no matter how much bleeding i do. Is the best option to just replace all fuel lines? Im taking an assumption the "sediment" filter is a keypoint for failure so will bypass this. Is there any other options for me to take on this?

You don’t get bubbles with the soapy water trick. You may get a rainbow off the diesel…I'm tempted to say, plug one end put air pressure on the other and spray the whole lot with soapy water to see where bubbles form.

When you turn the motor off it’s a capillary action pulling the air back
(That’s why an electric pump pushes the diesel out of any pin holes or loose joints)
It’s like when the leak off tube fails between the injectors,nothing shows but allows the air so to the system & drains back to the filterI stand corrected. good to know this little nugget of knowledge!
