its broke. wd40 leaves a residue and can jam locks better with a graphite lub have you tried stripping lock.

If you are careful you can do this without taking the whole handle out.
Take the door card off and remove the plastic water shield.
look at the handle from inside and you should see a circlip that hold the barrel in.
Make sure the key is in the lock before you remove the circlip and make sure you look at how the plastic part fits on the end.
Remove the circlip and then push it out with a screwdriver and maake sure the key stays in the barrel. Spray well with some service lube and wipe clean with a cloth and do the same to the inside of the handle.
Put back together and all should be fine.
