Hello;
can anyone post a picture of the back of the engine in which the heat-shield shows properly?
Mine is in pieces and can't get to find the bolts/studs that hold it in place to remove/replace it.

thanks in advance

I don't know how good these are for you. If you can point me somewhere you'd like a pic, I'll see if I can take one. Following is a Zip with some pics in anyway....

GrumpyGel you rule!!!
thank you very much for taking the time to take the pictures,
I couldn't find my way round the back of the engine to find the 2 bolts that hold it to what looks like the coolant rail in picture 4454.
tomorrow I have the day-off from work so going to try and get the remains of old one out, would it be ok if I make a heat-shield out of metal plate by myself instead of replacing it with a "genuine part"?

Wicked, glad they helped :)

It looks 'flat' (with bends), I suppose if you can use the old bits as a template, and can get the fixing holes in the right place, you could make one up. I find 'bits' around these heat shields perish quite quickly - presumably due to the heat. I took one off our Starlet to get better access to the oil filter and the bolts just snapped off - it didn't go back on!

I would think sheet metal is not such a good heat shield. Maybe you could wrap the new shield with exhaust wrap, which is a glass fibre stuff?

what was it like to get off mate?
mine is rattling and plan to take it off soon, probably wont bother replacing it though all the other ones are missing haha
