that would be good to have company:D:D, thank u

sorry to hear about urs, hope it's all getting sorted out

if u ever need a ride to go and pick another one up and haven't got transport give me a shout , always happy to help another landy member

as long as u don't mind dogs , as there normally with me in the car, a bichon and labrador , u may get a free wash as u get in the car, from the dogs that is :eek::eek:

if u look in the discovery section i think a few of us are going to try and get together for a trip out somewhere

There's plenty lanes not too far from Swanley, depends what you mean by 'non-damaging' though, most are narrow and will have bushes/tree branches that hang over the lane and will rub your truck a bit. The Pilgrims way past Maidstone is a fairly gentle one.
Happy to do a run out one weekend to get you going if you want a show around. Some need a permit which you can apply for using the form
https://shareweb.kent.gov.uk/Docume...Access/TROs/holly-hill-permit-application.pdf
and i think there is also an online application somewhere on the KCC site but can't find it right now.

No problem, would be good to get out and off roading again. I am not massively experienced, but enjoyed the ones i did around here and got out of a few sticky situations!! I can bring the camera and get some nice shots :) Let me know when you are going out next and i will try and make it.

i've actually got one of those, will have to dig it out , lol

will be good to get a few together and have some runs out

yes know what u mean ref branches etc, just don't want to go on one where it takes my paint off down the side of the car

maybe find one that's wide enough that's good fun without the marks

Yeah i was the same as it was my daily as well - totally standard. I have a machete which was useful for some branches! The ones I did were fairly suitable, but of course it depends when the council last cut them back. With budget restrictions I would imagine something like that is first for the chopping block.

PS. Cute dogs :)

@bankz5152
@Andy FM
@Mr S1

thought it easier to put it here for us

so that as i update the post it will automatically come through to all of u

am making progress , rang the council and ref the brown lanes we can go on

please bear with me, as i know it will take a while for me to find suitable lanes

once i've got the map and know what lanes were allowed to go on will update it here

my main priority is to make sure there are no restrictions and allowed to drive on them , along with suitability for us, in not being a lane full of hawthorns

after a call have been put onto this site by kent county council

https://webapps.kent.gov.uk/countrysideaccesscams/issues/default.aspx

u have to register , it then shows a map

advised that the ones we want are known as boats , shown as brown on the maps

think it might be easier if i buy some os maps

then go to the lanes and see what there like

may also have to apply for a permit , allows to go onto some restricted lanes

will put up the details

what do u guys think if these please

wondering if it may be worth a few of us checking them out ???
Basically if there is a TRO they are either (a) permanently closed and not accessible (b) open during summer months only, which is Shadoxhurst and crundale, or (c) require a permit to drive, which is holly hill, bredhurst and pilgrims way charing.

I've done most of the byways in Kent, you can kind of group them geographically together into chunks and go for a certain area for a days laning. If you have a permit then there is a good group of lanes around Cobham/luddesdown/meopham/vigo/trosley/Wrotham which you can spend a day doing. If you want to avoid branches then the Pilgrims way between Maidstone and Ashford is not too bad and Romney Marsh is mostly flat open fields. The OS explorer maps show all byways, if you have the TRO document as well then you can figure out which are drivable and which aren't.

Maybe suggest some dates then we can get a few together and head out for a day.

Permit form printed off, will get that posted tomorrow Gary.

I'm a total novice to off-roading, but happy to come along and check some lanes out :D

just thought it would be better having the permit ,

don't worry about being a novice , getting stuck is all part of the fun, lol

with others there will be easier then to get pulled out

ref the suitably of lanes that would be great having someone else with me please

normally i take my dogs for a walk along them, could then also post some pics up here to show others what they think

been looking at some lanes round the vigo gravesend area

think it may be a question of getting an os map, spending half a day driving round those indicated on the maps

when i plan to go and have a look will post it up here and ur good self and others will be more than welcome to join me

will also look out for some nice country pubs, so on laning days got somewhere to get a bite to eat

:D

Form already in the post, let me know what date(s) you've got in mind and we'll see if any work

hi mate

think it only takes a few weeks or so to come back

will be buying the os maps later this month

thought then if i spend the spring looking around all the lanes to see what there like

that would be great if u fancy joining me to see what these lanes are like , can easily do weekends so it makes it easier

once we find the lanes will be good then with them being local to organise some days out

making sure everyone is welcome regardless of experience and land rover model

most importantly for it to be a great laugh and fun day for all

having a wager who gets stuck first, lol , that will be me
