It's the only way I have survived. Flogged the house in the UK, paid off the mortgage, bought a ruin for peanuts 11 years ago. Been playing renovations ever since and slowly using up the capital
Can't afford to live in the UK, tax is ridiculous. For a retired person, taxes are so much lower here than in the UK
And the climate is better

thats one of the reasons why i have ended up here in Portugal - taxation, property prices that you do not need a mortgage for, cheaper fuel and really friendly locals that still have the community spirit

Portugal is nice I have some family out there,nice and warm too! (as I sit here freezing my ass off)
there was some guy on here form portugal with a very nice 3 door RRC asking if he should swap it, dont know him do ya?
